Stephen H. Swanson, Pastor
Pastor Swanson’s first five years were in Arusha, Tanzania where his father built Ilboro School. He is a graduate of Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas and the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. He has served churches in Cairo, Illinois; Chicago, Illinois and Denver, Colorado. He and his wife, Maureen, moved from Denver when he was called to St. Paul in December 1999. Maureen is an Advocate Parish Nurse at Concordia Lutheran Church in Chicago. They have five children and five grandchildren.

Cynthia Anderson, Director of Music, Chancel and Handbell Choirs
Born to Lutheran missionary parents in Tokyo, Japan, Cynthia Anderson studied vocal performance and choral conducting at Luther College and a Master of Arts in Music degree from Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois. A fine mezzo-soprano, Ms. Anderson continues to perform in various professional music events. She directs choral groups at Concordia, River Forest and College of DuPage, and teaches privately in her home.

Rebekah Mitchell, Director of Youth Ministry
Rebekah Mitchell graduated from Trinity Lutheran College in the Seattle area in 2008. She has a B.A. in Youth and Family Ministry. She joined the St. Paul staff in 2009 and is excited to be working with the youth and is thankful for the warm welcome the St. Paul congregation gave her as she made the made the move from the west coast. When she is not working she enjoys shopping, Dr. Pepper, making creations from Duct tape, and hanging out with her nephews.

Kristen Rosenwinkel, Parish Administrator, Cherub Choir
Kristen Rosenwinkel joined the staff at St. Paul in 1997, moved into her current position as Parish Administrator in 1999, and is thankful for this vibrant St. Paul congregation that both inspires and challenges her. Kristen also conducts the Cherub Choir, a group for children in kindergarten through third grade, which she considers more fun than a barrel of monkeys. She along with husband, Mark, and 2 children have been members of St. Paul since the early 1990’s.

Alice Ramsay, Administrative Assistant
Alice Ramsay has been administrative assistant at St. Paul since 2004, with a brief hiatus while she was in Utah. Alice has been a member of St. Paul since 1999. Born in Los Angeles, brought up in Colorado, and educated at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., Alice got her master’s at Stanford, married Tony, and worked at Bell Labs in Naperville for 15 years as a software engineer. She spent several happy years as a stay-at-home mom while her daughter Fiona was very small. In 2003, she felt called to do something more and started volunteering in the office at St. Paul. As it worked out, St. Paul needed an office assistant so God blessed Alice with service at St. Paul as administrative assistant.

Arlene Burm, Organist
Arlene Burm is a Graduate of Capital University in Columbus, Ohio with a B.S. in Education with a music minor. She studied organ at Concordia College in River Forest and at Capital, and has been the organist at St. Paul since May of 1970.

Lisa Wagner, Still Point Theatre Collective
Lisa Wagner is the founder and director of Still Point Theatre Collective. She founded the company in 1993, motivated by a strong desire to combine ministry and theatre. For over thirteen years, she has toured the country and overseas with Haunted by God: The Life of Dorothy Day. While researching the play, she met the St. Catherine of Genoa Catholic Worker community. After volunteering in the house for six months, she became a full-time Catholic Worker, and lived in the community for two years. Among other productions, Wagner has also performed in and produced the internationally toured Points of Arrival: A Jean Donovan Journey, a play that explores the life and commitment of one of the four North American church women killed in El Salvador in 1980. In 2001, Lisa co-wrote with Virginia Smith, Walking with Them, a piece commissioned by the Sisters of Mercy. She is currently touring around the United States and overseas with Haunted by God and Deep Listening, Still Point Theatre Collective’s new production on death and dying. Eight years ago, Lisa began a theatre program for women at Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC), and recently expanded the program to three other Illinois institutions. Lisa is also the founder and co-director of The Imagination Workshop, a theatre company for adults with developmental disabilities based at Esperanza Community Services. The company has produced original theatre works for over twelve years. Wagner’s education includes a B.S.E. degree from Emporia State University.
