Our Mission

When Jesus left his disciples, as recorded in Matthew 28:19, he left them with a clear mandate for service and mission. He said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Based on these words of Jesus, St. Paul Church has adopted as its mission “To reach and hold people for Christ.” This mission statement underlies all that we do as a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Recently, St. Paul members have worked to identify how St. Paul Lutheran Church fits into God s mission in the world. Here is the vision created by our congregation:

A: Purpose:

Loved by God, we grow, care, give and share in Jesus’ name.

B: Guiding Principles:

When we are at our best you will see us:

1. Growing spiritually to be more like Christ.
2. Caring for one another with the love of Jesus.
3. Giving generously to further God’s work.
4. Serving joyfully to help others.
5. Inviting and welcoming everyone we meet.
6. Creative and open to pursue new ways of doing ministry.

C: Strategic Priorities:

In order to focus our resources to do God’s work, we will emphasize the following Strategic Priorities:

1. Cultivate relationships that encourage spiritual growth and a sense of belonging.
2. Develop on ramps and entry points to increase involvement in ministry, both for current members and for new people.
3. Connect with young people and their families in order to build relationships and make a difference in their lives.
4. Participate in the surrounding community to be a more visible and inviting presence for our neighbors.
5. Provide support and encouragement to people living with economic challenges.
