Lutheran Social Services of Illinois“As he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd.” — Mark 6:34Jesus himself is the model for this ministry that occupies the East Parish House on the campus of St. Paul Church. Here, counseling services are offered to people of the community without regard to religious affiliation. West Suburban Counseling and Educational Services is a program of Lutheran Social Services of Illinois. Highly skilled counselors are available to assist people through the crisis times of their lives. Some of the issues addressed in counseling are: • anxiety and depression • behavioral problems in children and adolescents • stress caused by job difficulties or loss, financial situations, “world stress,” divorce and marital issues Getting help begins with a simple phone call. West Suburban Counseling and Education Center is located at 544 S. Cornell Avenue in Villa Park, telephone, 630-993-0100. The center also offers education and support groups, as well as a speaker's bureau. Currently in the works is the Divorce Adjustment Group, and the “Surviving Your Teenagers” group for parents. The counseling center's speaker's bureau can provide groups with speakers to address such topics as job stress, anxiety and/or depression, parenting problems, marital issues, children's school performance and/or behavior problems.
