ConfirmationConfirmation is an important step in the faith formation of a young person. Also referred to as Affirmation of Baptism, confirmation is the time when the candidate remembers and affirms their baptismal promises, and takes on an adult role in the life of the congregation.Students prepare for confirmation by attending classes during 7th and 8th grades and the beginning of 9th grade. This is a time to study the Bible, Luther’s Small Catechism, Lutheran liturgy and worship, the cycle of the church year and many aspects of the faith. Study culminates in a special written faith statement that the students present to the Congregation Council. Confirmation classes at St. Paul meet each Thursday evening during the school year, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Ninth grade students meet from 7:45 to 8:45 until they are confirmed on Reformation Sunday at the end of October. The classes are led by Pastor Swanson, Rebekah Mitchell and Marlys Power. |
